The Board Fellows program provides pro-bono support to local nonprofit partners in areas of need. MBA candidates from Georgetown's McDonough School of Business apply to participate in the program, and fellows are chosen based on the strength of their analytical, communication, and time-management skills. Selected fellows are placed into small teams of 3-4 and then matched with a nonprofit partner. Fellows then work closely with the nonprofit’s board of directors to develop and present a deliverable at the end of their 7-month engagement.

General project topics include:

• Business development

• Organizational restructuring

• Developing new strategies for fundraising

• Financial modeling for new projects

Nonprofit parters are asked to:

• Clearly identify a project their team can accomplish in 40-50 hours of work time (per person)

• Identify a staff person or board member to briefly check-in with their Board Fellows team every 2 weeks (via phone, email, or in-person)

• Allow Board Fellows to attend board meetings (as well as committee-level meetings when appropriate) and present their deliverable to the board

• Complete a mid-program and post-program evaluation of their Impact Consultants
